"Helping to create healthy and lasting marriages" The Marriage Project - Recipient of the 2002 Distinguished Service to Families Award Established in 1987 by the BC Council for Families, this annual award recognizes the contributions and achievements of individuals and organizations working towards the enhancement of family living in British Columbia. Based on their commitment, effort and creativity, past recipients from around the province have made significant contributions in the areas of parenting, intergenerational activities, community service, womens issues, foster parenting, family support, work and family, children and youth programs, and family life education. Individuals and organizations are nominated and then an independent selection committee reviews the nominations based on the set criteria. Faced with a difficult task, the committee selects recipients from the noteworthy contributions of each of the nominees. The awards were presented by Her Honour, Iona Campagnolo, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
