Giving to the Marriage Project

Why give to The Marriage Project?

Healthy and lasting marriages
As a not-for-profit organization committed to helping couples create healthy and lasting marriages, The Marriage Project depends significantly on the gifts of friends.

Excellence for over 22 years
Because churches and individuals give to our organization, we have been able to provide excellence in marriage education over the past 22 years for hundreds of couples. We have been able to keep tuition costs manageable and to provide a high level of instruction.

Special programs
While the Marriage Project generates almost enough income from workshop fees for administrative costs, we rely on gifts to initiate special programs and program updates. For example, gifts help us to provide :

  • Subsidies for couples that do not have the financial resources to cover workshop registration

  • Professional in-service training for workshop facilitators

  • Development and upgrading of workshop materials to keep them contemporary and attractive

  • Special program initiatives such as one currently "in the works." This is to provide on-line marriage education and/or internet based "virtual" workshops for the benefit of couples living in rural B.C. (and elsewhere) who do not have access to marriage education in their communities.

  • Development of a new "student manual" for couples' use in workshops.

Donations in Kind

We depend especially on the churches that donate space to us in which to hold workshops. We're very grateful to:

- St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Langley,

- St. Martin's Anglican Church in North Vancouver,

- South Arm United Church in Richmond,

- Northwood United Church in Surrey

- Knox United Church in Vancouver

- St. Philip's Anglican Church

We also depend on the generosity of our workshop facilitators and counsellors who accept far less than they are worth to do the work they do for us!

Donate On-line

Giving opportunities:

  • Membership. For $20.00 become a Member of the Interchurch Marriage Project Association

  • Bursary Funds. Think about covering the registration fee of $245.00 for a couple in financial hardship.

  • Special projects. Direct your gift to a special project or initiative such as those outlined above, including "virtual workshops" for couples that live in small communities distant to the Lower Mainland.

  • The Marriage Project welcomes gifts of every amount. All amounts will be receipted as charitable giving.

So Why Give?
Whether large or small, the gifts, when added to the efforts of others, multiply into significant support for the important work of The Marriage Project. About 340 couples attend marriage preparation sessions and work on divorce-proofing their marriages each year. Healthy, happy marriages, in turn, impact families and communities and ultimately, Canada.

Being part of the Marriage Project Team is a vote for the health of the Nation!
