What is The Marriage Project?

Started in 1983, The Marriage Project is a non-profit, interchurch organization that provides pre-marriage and re-marriage workshops for approximately 350 couples, at seven locations throughout the Lower Mainland. The fees paid cover administration and workshop costs as well as presenter fees.


Are the workshops religious?

Our workshops primarily focus on relationship skill building. We do discuss spirituality in marriage with regard to respecting diversity.

What happens in the workshops?

Facilitators use informational material as well as, partner and group work, to stimulate thought about relationship skill building. There is no pressure to share information beyond discussing relationship topics with one's partner.

Topics covered include: communication, conflict resolution, financial management, building intimacy,
and parenting, and respecting diversity in spirituality.


Who are the workshop facilitators?

Our facilitators are experienced, professional family life educators and counsellors. Every facilitator has a Masters level of education and has extensive training in Marriage and Family Counselling. Further information can be found on our Presenters page.

How long do I have to wait for the next program?

Individual couple's sessions are held by appointment throughout the year (including evenings and weekends).  Phone our office at 604-576-6737 to make appointments.


Will I need to speak in a group?

Only if you choose to. The focus will be on partners speaking with each other one-on-one.
